Rahula Trust's Partnership With Paleng, Lesotho

From Paleng: During 2023 and 2024 Paleng was privileged to receive funding once again from Rahula Trust. Their ongoing commitment to supporting us, their trust in our team and our work are very encouraging and important to us. This funding allowed us to do many important things. We were able to run four focus groups in different settings across Lesotho with children from 7 years old upwards concerning a traumatic event that occurred in their community. School children donation programme in Ehetuwewa, Kurunegala District, Sri Lanka

Established in 1931, Eriyawa Primary School is located in the remote village of Ehetuwewa in the Kurunegala district under North Western Province. It offers classes from grade 1 to 5. Currently, 149 students are enrolled at this school. This school has top Grade 5 results in the area. The donation programme was held on 26th June 2023. 149 children were benefited with this donation of school accessories.

School children donation programme in Ranjanagama, Kurunegala District

On 23 June, the Rahula Trust donated school accessories for 168 school children in Ranjanagama in Kurunegala district. Sri Sumanasara Vidayalaya - This school is located at Kadurugahamadiththa, Ranjanagama. It is in the Kurunegala district under North Western province. Its education zone is Kurunegala under Polgahawela Educational division. Our local representative, Mr Norman Perera, and volunteers organised this event. Our thanks to all of them.

Educational development, Nepal

CHILD SPONSORSHIP IN NEPAL Over the past 20 years, we have supported children in Kathmandu through the local Samyak Youth Group. Initially, the number was 13 children but this has now increased to 45. According to their school reports they are progressing well and we are planning to increase their sponsorship in the future.

Support for pre-school, Padavi-Sri Pura

At the request of Manel Pre-School in Aliwanguwa, Padavi Sri Pura, the Rahula Trust arranged to to distribute school accessories to the children who are leaving the pre-school for regular schooling. This distribution of school accessories was conducted by Mr Ananda Gunatilaka, our volunteer in this area, and local representative of the Rahula Trust, Mr Norman Perera, in addition to volunteers.

Educational accessories donation project in Hambantota District, Sri Lanka

Support for pre-school in Tawalama, Sri Lanka

At the request of the Tawalama Women’s Service Society, the Rahula Trust has contributing to develop a pre-school in Tawalama South in Hiniduma. This pre-school is located in a very remote village in Galle District, Sri Lanka. The school was started to develop education for small children. Viharamaha Devi Girls Home education project, Sri Lanka

At the request of the managing Trustees of the Viharamahadevi Girls Home, the Rahula Trust agreed to supply financial support to engage a teacher for educating infants in the Viharamahadevi Girls Home. The Trust already provides financial support for the education of young girls in the orphanage. Infants now also have a teacher to educate them. Before this, they did not receive any education. Bambaragalayaya Village is a small village about 30 miles away from Kurunegala in North Western Province in Kurunegala District. School accessories donation project, Anuradhapura District, Sri Lanka

Though children in Sri Lanka benefit from free education, there are still children living in underserved, remote and difficult areas for whom proper education is a dream. While working in these areas with children and their families the Rahula Trust has identified another school in Thambuttegama that is in dire need. This year's exhibition raised the remarkable amount of 1,800 euros in support of the Rahula Trust at their annual graduating senior’s visual art auction. We are deeply indebted to Alan Mitchell who takes on this responsibility every year and raises these large sums of money for us.
