School accessories donation project, Anuradhapura District, Sri Lanka
Though children in Sri Lanka benefit from free education, there are still children living in underserved, remote and difficult areas for whom proper education is a dream.
While working in these areas with children and their families the Rahula Trust has identified another school in Thambuttegama that is in dire need. This school is situated at Kudagama Village in dry zone area, near Thambuttegama in Anuradhapura district.
About 250 families are living in this village, most of whom are Sri Lankan Gypsies (Ahikuntaka). Their main language is Telugu. The inhabitants of this village receive their primary income from farming/cultivation and similar activities. The education facilities to this school are very poor.
The Rahula Trust helped by giving the children school bags which contained essential school equipment, i.e., pencils, pens, rulers and notebooks. 272 children at the school received this donation of the Rahula Trust.
