Child Sponsorship

Sponsor a child today

Why sponsor?

In many developing nations, the cost of sending a child to school places a very heavy and sometimes impossible burden on poorer families.

Too many children are forced to abandon their education in order to find a (badly-paid) job to try to support their family.

What will it do?

Sponsorship will immediately change a child’s education for the better.

By paying the cost of uniforms, books and additional tuition, child sponsorship can enable a child to attend school and prepare effectively for examinations.

Education is one path to success.

Community impact

Imagine the effect if just one of the sponsored children goes on to become a professional or skilled person as a direct consequence of sponsorship. That one child, once an adult, will have a beneficial influence on their own family, and as a result, the extended family, and eventually the immediate local community in which that family resides. This is the mushroom effect. It is an extremely powerful way of achieving change. By making a donation you can help make that change happen.

Information for Sponsors

Each sponsor receives a photograph of their sponsored child together with background information on the child’s family and living conditions.

Sponsors will be informed of their child’s educational development through annual progress reports.

Sponsors can also keep in contact with their sponsored children by writing to them through the Rahula Trust. It means so much to a child to know that a sponsor thousands of miles away cares for them. Children are also encouraged to write to their sponsors through the Rahula Trust. To find out more about the child sponsorship process, have a look at the Frequently Asked Questions.

Each year, the trust produces an annual report informing all sponsors of the trust’s activities and financial position.
